Top Tips for your Skin Care Routine

If you’re regularly using our amazing glitter products for festivals, parties, or just a casual Friday night in, then we think it’s pretty useful to have some good skin care tips to make sure your skin stays in good condition.

Anything that you put on your skin, whether it’s make-up or glitter can clog up your pores or affect your complexion – it’s nothing to worry about, but if you don’t keep on top of your skin care routine you could be prone to more outbreaks and spots.

Let’s take a look at some age-old tips to stick to that’ll keep your skin bright and fresh:

Exfoliate!

Giving your skin a good old scrub with some exfoliator is one of the best things you can do for it. A gentle exfoliant is great for getting rid of dead summer skin (and any stray glitter remains!) and stopping it from clogging up your pores.

It’s easy to neglect exfoliating in the summer, because of being in the sun and the seasonal changes that has on your skin, but bringing it back in for the autumn and winter months is essential if you want to repair and brighten up your skin again.

Colder Showers

Alright, so we know having a cold shower is a bit of a hard sell, but hot showers can really start to dry out your skin over time. A good technique is to wash your face with lukewarm water, that hasn’t reached scorching temperatures and then finish it off by splashing your face with colder water to make sure that it’s not drying out. So, next time you’re removing glitter, don’t make your skin unhappy with a hot shower.

Hydrate your skin

A good toner can work wonders. Keeping your skin hydrated is essential – it keeps it bright and healthy. An alcohol-free toner will give your skin much-needed moisture. When your skin is moist from toner, you can add a serum or another moisturiser on top to give it more moisture too.

Sun damage can dry out your skin too, so ensure that you’re drinking enough water generally. Also use foundations with SPF in them and generously use suntan lotion when you know you’re going to be exposed to a lot of sun and natural light. UVA rays can cause damage over time to your skin, so apply suntan lotion before you go out in the sun and whilst you’re out in it too.

Anti-oxidants

Anti-oxidants help to rid your body and skin of pollutants and toxic agents. Even walking around outside for 10 minutes means that your skin gathers pollution and dirt, so it’s important to counteract this. The good news is you can find anti-oxidants in lots of different foods such as carrots and pomegranates, which improve your skin’s collagen levels and elasticity. You skin needs anti-inflammatory boosts to help to protect it over the winter months, so top up your anti-oxidant levels whenever you can.
